‘Kizuna’ selected as kanji of 2011

Kizuna (“bonds”) was chosen as the kanji of the year 2011. The second most voted was “shin” (earthquake). Interestingly, the yearly kanji tradition started in 1995, after the Hanshin earthquake, where “shin” was chosen as kanji of the year.
